The second of four children, he was born on Friday, July 7, 1939, to the late Anna Marrone and Andrew Vecchione in Queens, New York. Frank graduated from East New York Vocational High School in 1957, and after four years in the U.S Navy he became an Aviation Mechanic. He continued his career as an Aviation Inspector for Pan Am Airways. Being a “Jack of all trades”, he continued his education and studied Business Management at Queensborough Community College, where he became a licensed insurance agent. Mr. Vecchione worked for Pudential Insurance through retirement, and began investing in real estate rentals which he continued after retirement.
Frank was an ambitious man with a laugh-at-life personality. His children remember some of his many sayings such as, “You gotta roll with the punches”, “Great balls of fire”, and “Geronimo!”, that embodied a life full of spirit. He was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren and a respected source for supportive advice.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 and a half years, Trudi Vecchione of the home. His children include three daughters; Tiffany of Austin, TX, Autumn of Cleveland, TN, and Monica Vecchione of Hudson, NC, and step-son Derrick Holland (wife Shawnasi); Six grandchildren, Dillon and Tyler (Jessica) Holland, Joey Vecchione, Andrew Wooten, Tahj Tilley and Kingston Vecchione; niece Krista Vecchione, nephews Randy Vecchione and Andrew Vecchione, and a number of great nieces and nephews. Frank's brothers are Andrew “Jr.” and Al Vecchione. Also left to remember Frank will be his lifelong friend, Richard Blankenship.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Anthony Vecchione.
A private led memorial service will be held at a later date with the Lenoir Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Frank was a supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and the family requests that donations be made in support of cancer research in lieu of sending flowers.
