Mr. Gary Alfred Bender

Mr. Gary Alfred Bender, 72, of Hudson passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at his residence.

Mr. Bender was born October 7, 1946 in Randolph County, WV to the late Sterling and Alta Jean Bender.

Gary was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force having retired after 20 years of dedicated service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Schueck, a sister, Norma Stanton and his biological mother, Lynn Wamsley.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Louise Boswell Bender, of the home, his children, Diana Capps, Alta Bender Dyer and husband Andrew Dyer, Debbie Gulda and husband Fred Gulda, Debby James, Bill Watts and wife Lynetta Watts, Ronald Watts and wife Terry Watts, his siblings, Eddie Bender, Randy Bender, Tim Bender, Karen Carsen, Louise Flood, Joe Schueck and Connie Williams.

Also left to cherish his memory are several beautiful grandchildren and rambunctious great grandchildren.

A funeral service to honor Mr. Bender will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Mr. Bill Watts officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorials be made to the Disabled American Veterans at 4113 Hickory Nut Ridge Rd, Hudson, NC 28638.

Interment at Arlington National Cemetery will be held at a later date.

My heart is broken ! that I have lost my Friend Gary I was in the Air Force and when I first came to Pleiku 1967 to 1968 Gary helped me showed me how to become a great Mechanic we both decided to take R & R To Sydney Australia we had such a great time what a great Friend and Mentor , GOD BLESS YOU GARY !
