Gerald D. Benfield

Mr. Benfield was born in Caldwell County to the late John Edward Benfield and Bertha McNeily Benfield. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Donald, Sherman, Richard and Wayne Benfield and a sister, Shirley Pipes. He was employed in the furniture industry.

Survivors include his wife, Nora Hatley Benfield of the home; his sons, Gerald Benfield, Jr. and Gary Benfield, both of Lenoir; his daughters, Karen Busha of Lenoir, Sandra Steele of Boomer, Sarah Benfield of Granite Falls and Amy Benfield of North Wilkesboro; sisters, Joyce Vines of Lenoir and Charlotte Simmons of Raleigh. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.

A funeral service will be held at Pendry’s Chapel Sunday, November 06, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Tony Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Cobb’s Family Cemetery in the Upton community. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
