Mrs. Gertrude “Trudy” Huffman Pennell, age 81, of Granite Falls, NC passed away on Wednesday, April

18, 2018 at Gateway Rehab and Healthcare in Lenoir, NC.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 22, 2018 to celebrate Trudy’s life at Pendry’s Lenoir

Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald Leasure and Pastor Casey Fenn officiating. The family will receive

friends from 2:00 to 3:00 with a memorial service to follow.

Trudy was born in Caldwell County on May 1, 1936 to the late Avery and Effie Huffman. She is preceded

in death by three brothers; Charles, Stanley and James Ray Huffman; one sister; Elizabeth Greer. She

was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.

Gertrude is survived by her loving husband of 48 years; Charles Dennis Pennell, four sons; David Pennell

and wife Linda of Warrensville, NC, Brian Pennell and wife LaClaire of Roanoke, Virginia, Jeff and James

Pennell both of the home and one daughter; Teresa Curtis and husband Richard of Warsaw, Kentucky.

She had 6 grandchildren, 5 Great grand-children and several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was a faithful member of Rock Chapel Church of God in Granite Falls, NC for over 49 years. She

loved singing, playing the piano, going to church, her dog “Little Joe” but most of all, she loved her

family and the Lord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family, C/O Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home, 522

Wilkesboro Blvd., SE Lenoir, NC 28645 or Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care, 526 Robbinswood Place,

Hudson, NC 28638.
