Mrs. Gladys Clyde Chapman, 88, of Hudson, passed away on March 11, 2019 at Trinity Ridge in Hickory. She was born on May 10, 1930 in Yancy County to the late Silas and Atlas Fender Edwards. Mrs. Chapman was a great cook, loved church, and always stayed true to her faith. She was a member of the Women’s Missionary and especially loved all of her family. In addition her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Chapman, three brothers, and one sister. Those left to cherish her memory include her son Marvin “Buddy” Chapman and wife Kelly, daughters, Scottie Bryant and husband Steve, Betty Dunlap and husband Gary, and Joy Chapman; sister, Barbara Prestwood and husband Bob; grandchildren, Jonathan Suddreth and wife Amber, Eric Bryant and wife Beth, Brandy Dunlap-Bradshaw and husband Seth, Misty Seagle and husband Chris, and Christina Chapman; and nine great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with the Rev. Roger Beck officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church, 914 Meadowlane Drive, Lenoir, NC 28645.
