

She was a graduate of Collettsville School, was retired from Singer Furniture Company and was a charter member and Sunday School teacher of Oakwood Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Walker was born February 10, 1917, in Alexander County to the late Grover Cleveland and Lela McLean Sharpe. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira Clyde Walker; brothers, Jack, Harry, and Woodrow Sharpe, sister, Lois Sharpe Norris; sons, Clyde, Dennis and Ray Walker; and foster children, J.C. and Glenn Houck and Fred Arney.
Survivors include two sons, Ted Walker and wife Lou of Granite Falls, NC, Howard “Butch” Walker and wife Linda of Hickory, NC; one daughter, Sarah Walker Watson and husband Jimmie of Lenoir, NC; one sister, Mary Lunda Wheeler of Lenoir, NC; and one daughter-in-law, Linda Williams Walker of Lenoir, NC; twelve grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great, great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 7, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Oakwood Presbyterian Church with Reverend Phillip King, Reverend Brian Smith and Reverend James Millsaps officiating. Burial will follow the service at Flemings Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 6, 2011 at Pendry’s Funeral Home from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Bolick, Jeff Clarke, Wilson Walker, Harley Hamby, Jeff Johnson, and Joe Watson.
