Grace "Susie" Jenkins South

Mrs. South was born in Caldwell County to the late Mansfield Church and Maggie Ruth Watson Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Jeffery Lynn Holloway and a brother, Jack Church. She was retired from the furniture industry and a member of Indian Hills Baptist Church where she served as director of the Senior Program for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Jack H. South of Lenoir; her sons, Jerry B. Holloway and wife Diane of Lenoir, Richard Douglas Holloway and wife Patsy of Granite Falls; step-sons, Jerry L. South and wife Connie of TN and Thomas D. South and wife Julie of TN; a daughter, Susan Elizabeth Tugman and husband Pete of Lenoir; a brother, George Wayne Church and wife Joanne of Lenoir; a sister, Louise M. Dotson of Lenoir; a daughter-in-law, Anna Holloway of Peru; 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend J. B. Crouse, Pastor Tony Harris and Pastor Brian David officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Interment will be private at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Serving as pallbearers will be the grandchildren of Susie.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
