Mrs. Smith was born on October 11, 1939 in Caldwell County to the late Steve Roberts and Leila Newton Roberts.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 63 years, David James Smith, three brothers and three sisters.
She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Hattie enjoyed cooking and sewing, but one of her greatest joys was the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons; Jason Smith and spouse Fletcher of Knoxville, TN, Daniel Smith and wife Krystal of Lenoir, sisters; Ruth Kincaid of Lenoir, Mary Bumgarner of Spruce Pine, Lila Harrison of Charlotte, a brother, Jack Roberts and wife Dana of Granite Falls, and her beloved grandchildren Jacob and Lexi Smith.
A funeral service to honor Mrs. Smith will be held on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Hedgecock and Rev. Edd Warren officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
