Hazel M. Arnette, 92 of Lenoir went to meet the Lord Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born July 14, 1921 in Watauga County to the late Bynum Moore and Ida Parlier Moore.
Mrs. Arnette was a graduate from Bethel High School in Sugar Grove, NC and moved to Caldwell County and retired from American Effird Mills early in her life and then she was a homemaker. She loved working outdoors in her yard and especially in her flowers. She also loved quilting.
Mrs. Arnette was a member of First Baptist Church of Whitnel, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and at the age of 92 was still teaching. She was a faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ.
She is also preceded in death by her husband, Ray D. Arnette whom she was married to for 65 years, brothers; Ivey Moore (wife Ada), Clyde Moore (wife Gladys) and Dana Moore (wife Hazel), also 4 grandchildren, Timothy Max Woods, James Terrell (Jimmy) Andrews, 1 infant grandson and 1 infant granddaughter.
Those left to cherish her memories are her children Geraldine Woods ( husband Max) of Lenoir, Jean Andrews of Lenoir, Shirley Austin ( husband Jerry) of Hudson, Glenda Bolick (husband Dale) of Huntersville, her siblings, Lewis Moore (wife Violet), Blanche Hamm, Bertha Greene ( husband Willard), Betty Greene ( husband Howard) all of Lenoir, grandchildren Sharon Alley (husband Tim)of Hudson, Revonda Winkler (husband Greg), Beth Prestwood ( husband Hoss) both of Lenoir, Ryan Bolick (wife Kristin) of Davidson, Chris Austin (wife Bambi) of Lenoir, T.J. Austin of Brooklyn, NY, Keri Magana (husband Kiko) of Seattle Washington, great grandchildren, Shannon Andrews (husband Michael) of Concord, NC, Amber Alley of Lenoir, Abby Prestwood and Cain Prestwood of Lenoir, David Alley of Hudson, Elizabeth Bolick and Charlotte Bolick of Davidson, NC and Olivia Austin of Lenoir.
The family will receive friends Sunday August 4, 2013 from 2:00pm until 3:00pm at First Baptist Church of Whitnel.
Funeral services will be following the receiving at 3:00 p.m. at the church with Reverend Stuart White, Reverend Sam Craven and Reverend Don Ingle officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Lenoir Park for the loving care they gave our mom and our sister, and also to Caldwell Hospice for their special doctors, nurses and staff for helping to comfort our loved one.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mrs. Arnette’s grandsons.
