Hazel Watson Cheek

Mrs. Cheek was born on June 8, 1920 in Ashe County to the late Noah and Victoria Byland Watson. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Edmond Cheek; one son, Ed T. Cheek; four brothers, Grady, Lee, Vandell, and Eugene Watson; and four sisters, Bessie Blackburn, Ola Wellborn, Virginia Woodie, and Mary Nell Miller.

She was a member of the West Lenoir Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish her memory are one son, Robert Darrell Cheek and wife, Sandra of Lenoir, NC; three daughters, Shelby Martin and husband, James of Raleigh, NC, Hilda Cook and husband, Joe of Lenoir, NC, and Geraldine Williams, also of Lenoir, NC; two brothers, Hobart and Herbert Watson, both of Boone, NC; and one sister, Ella Mae Cheek of Glenn Rock, PA; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services for Mrs. Cheek will be held Friday, October 14, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Pastor Rick Safriet officiating.
