

His passion was driving a truck, which he had done for 23 years. The last eight at Ozark Motor Lines.
He was born March 26, 1953, in Caldwell County, to the late Hugh Hightower and Elizabeth Banner Hightower.
He was also preceded in death by a baby brother, Julius Edward.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Hightower of 30 years of the home, three sons, Herman Jr. and wife Tamira of Concord, Bryan and Brock Hightower of Lenoir. One daughter Ivey and husband Raymond Robinson of Vale. Four brothers, Anthony Hightower and wife Sylvia, Quincy Hightower and wife Polly, Eric Hightower and wife Valerie, and Hugh Hightower, all of Lenoir. Three sisters, Ivey McCorkle and husband Thomas of Conover, Lois Mungro, Dallas Harris and husband Rickey both of Lenoir. Twelve grandchildren, Kiya Hightower, Zana Hightower, Raheem Sawyer, LaVon Hightower, Devin Hightower, Elijah Hightower, LaRae Robinson, Jeremiah Robinson, Dasian Hightower, Kaylee Hightower, Gage Hightower, and Makiah Hightower.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:00 am in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Terry Hunt, Reverend Wilfong, Sister Ruby Dula and Sister Valerie Hightower officiating the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family of Mr. Hightower will receive friends Friday, July 2, 2010 at Pendry’s Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be his fellow truck drivers; Tim Boyce, Virgil Banner, Steve Corpening, Thomas Branch, Allen Eckard and Christopher Randall. Honorary pallbearer will be Wesley Braswell.
