We are so sorry to hear about Herman.  We will be praying for you all.  My husband and I worked with Herman at Anderson Truck Line.  Herman was so fun to be around and we always called each other "Cuz".  We will miss him so much!  I know God will be with you during this tough time and again we will pray for you. Thank you so much for sharing Herman with us down in Granite Falls. I met him at my old boxing gym in Granite Falls. He was a true friend and joy to be around. He always had some tell to tell about our old days at the gym and various shows around the area. 
 Herman always had something good to say about his Peggy. He had some weakness, (LUNCHMEAT) he loved lunchmeat from Owens Express. I am truly a better person for having known Herman. Herman personified the ability to get along with everyone,he did not see color or difference he only saw people to love and be kind to. If everyone had just a small portion of his thoughtfulness and caring for all others we would never have fights or wars. Keep on acting like Herman and treat people with kindness and accept Jesus as your personal Saviour and we will see Herman again in Heaven.

I knew Herman as a young man when I worked at Peoples Drug in Lenoir. He always had a smile. He had a beautiful smile.

I worked with Herman for several years.  He picked up at a little furniture company in Granite.  He was a joy and a pleasure to talk to.  My thoughts and prayers are with the family as he will surely be missed.

May God bless the Hightower family, And all of those who knew Herman, He was a man that people love to be around.We was verry sad to hear of his passing,I remember the last time I spoke to Herman,He told me of his sickes, and he said it was ok with his soul. I am very sorry to hear about Herman..He was a Wonderful Person. The greatest..He always told me that he was my "black brother" and that is just how I felt about Herman, like a brother. Going to school with him and then got the chance to work with him at Broyhill Furn... He would come in the shipping department and Always hollar at me "Morning Sue"..He always put a smile on your face reguardless how you may have been feeling !!! My prayers go out to Peggy and the rest of the family. He touched alot of peoples lives with that great personality of his and never complained about nothing !!! Susie Pritchard, Lenoir, N.C.

I just learned that Herman has passed away--I have been gone from Broyhill Central Warehouse for almost 5 years and still remember him so well from his days picking up there at the warehouse. Every time he came upstairs to get his paperwork to load by from our office, he was the happiest and friendliest man any of us had ever encountered. We all remarked on that practically every time we saw him. I still recall when he told us the story of the terrible trucking wreck he was in that one time and how grateful we all were that he was OK....It's so sad to think he survived that to go with cancer later on, but God knows what He is doing when he calls one of His faithful on home..

Herman will be missed by all of us. No matter how bad he felt he never complained about his pain. God has wrapped him in his loving arms and has taken all his suffering away. I will always remember him saying "Yeah Buddy That's Right". I am so thankful for my sister she did not leave his side for even one moment.I will always think of Herman as my brother. I remember the last time I went to see Herman and he took my hand and told me that he loved me and then I looked into his eyes and knew that he had made peace with God.
I can still hear him playing his guitar as I sung one of his favorite songs "I've already been to the water"

It saddens me to here of the passing of Herman--he was always kind and had a smile for me--called me Buddy Tom---I know he will be missed by many.





I am so deeply sorry to hear the passing of our dear friend and "cuz" big man Herman.  I just learned last week of his illness.  Working at Broyhill Occ#1 shipping, Herman always could put a hugh smile on your face even on the worst days.  Here's a big shout out to you Herman for making everyone related or not your "cuz."  May the sweet Lord comfort you in these sorrow days and to know He has wrapped his arms around you.
