Hilda Hice

Hilda Hazel Brookshire Hice, age 97, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Hickory Falls Health and Rehabilitation in Granite Falls. She was born November 11, 1927 in Alexander County to the late Ray Ingram and Alice White Brookshire.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Hice; four sisters, LenaMae Shores, Faye Lehmann, Christine Andrews, Wanda Stafford; three brothers, Millard Brookshire, Leon Brookshire, Bud Brookshire; two sons-in-law, Steve H. Smith and Steve R. Auton.

Hilda was a great seamstress and loved sewing and working outside in her yard with her beautiful flowers.

She is survived by her four children, Deanna Smith of Hickory, Donnie McGee and wife Linda of Lenoir, Sheila Auton of Lenoir and Cody Hice of Lenoir.

Also left to cherish her memory are five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Love of Lenoir, one brother, Jack Brookshire of Granite Falls, a special niece, Flaxen B. Reid and numerous other nieces and nephews.

A service to honor Hilda will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home. Burial will follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of Hickory Falls Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and to AMOREM Hospice for their outstanding care.
