Isaac Clayton Austin

Isaac Clayton Austin, 87, of Lenoir, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.

Mr. Austin was born in Caldwell County to the late William Austin and Laura Hollander Austin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mamie Crump Austin on January 3, 2010, two sons, William and Billy Austin; three sisters and three brothers.

He was retired from Thomasville Furniture and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church. He loved the mountains and loved gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Roger Austin and wife Peggy of Lenoir and Eddie Austin and wife Alta of Valdese; his daughters, Linda Bentley of Lenoir and Carolyn Polk and husband Dwight of Lenoir; and 50+ grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great, great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, December 2, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Pastor Floyd Vines officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 1, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be his great-granddaughters and great-grandsons.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
