Isabelle (Polly) Steele

Isabelle (Polly) Steele was called home by her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 23, 2014.

She was born June 11, 1920 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Laura and Willis Moore. She attended the public schools in Richmond and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1937.

She married the Reverend John S. Steele of La Fayette, Georgia in 1937. After his graduation from Union Theological Seminary, she shared her love and devotion to God with her husband in churches in Georgia, Virginia, South Carolina and North Carolina. After retirement, they settled in Lenoir to be near their daughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, an older sister and her husband.

Survivors are her daughters, Emily Moore and Mary Felton (Frank) of Lenoir son, John S. Steele, Jr (Kathryn) of North Wilkesboro; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.

Burial will be private. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Fairview Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Edyth Pruett and the Reverend Dr. Tim Brittain of Hudson United Methodist Church officiating.

Serving as pallbearers will be the Grandsons of Mrs. Isabelle (Polly) Steele.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
