James “Jim” Junior Rich, 78, of Lenoir passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022. Jim was born January 20, 1944 in Caldwell County to the late James Anderson and Mable Philyaw Rich. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Troy, Coleman and Charles Rich.
Jim was a skilled carpenter by trade. He was a star basketball player in his younger years and was nominated to be in the Caldwell County Sports Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed fishing, so much that he would fish, even in the snow. He was a kind man and was loved by many; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Shannon Taylor Brunet and husband Bernard of Indian Land, SC, grandson Xavier Brunet, two sisters, Hazel Rich Greene and husband Horace of Kings Creek and Ann Rich Hatton of Sawmills. Also left are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir with Rev. Keith Rose officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Phillips, Mike Mudd, Xavier Brunet, Eddie Keefer, Dale Rich and Troy Miller.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial be made to the Collettsville Ruritan Club at PO Box 161 Collettsville, NC 28611.
