

Mr. Sears was born in Caldwell County to the late Eugene “Babe” Sears and Brintie “Mother Sears” Wilkie Sears. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gene Sears and his sisters, Doris Sears, Ann Austin and Polly McRary.
He was a retired supervisor in the furniture industry and a proud veteran of the U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War. He was a faithful member of Ebenezer United Methodist church where he served on the Board for many years, and was a Sunday school teacher and faithful member of the southern gospel choir. He was an avid gardener, golfer and fisherman. He served as scout master and was a charter member of the Ruritan Club.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Baker Sears of the home; his children, Brian Sears and wife Jennifer, Kim Ellis and husband Wayne, Robbie Sears and Annette Burson and husband Paul; his grandchildren, Rikki Bresina and husband Chris, Anna Sears, Samantha Sears, Jordan Ellis, Tyler Ellis and Paul Burson IV; great grandchildren, Joshua, Chelbe and Kaleigh Yount; step grandchildren, Emily Phillips, husband and children, and Chris Ellis, wife and daughter; sisters, Dottie Starnes and Merle Land.
A memorial service with military rites will be held Monday, March 24, 2014 at Ebenezer United Methodist Church at 4:00 with Reverend Eric Lane and Reverend Mitchell Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Christian Life Center, 4948 Burns Road, Granite Falls, NC 28630.
