James “Jamie” Todd Shew, 59, of Lenoir North Carolina has been called home by the Lord. He was greeted in heaven by his mother Paula Hamby Shew and his grandmother Jennie Webster Hamby. He is survived by his father Cecil Shew of Lenoir, brothers Joseph Lee Shew of Lenoir and Jon Paul Robinson of Jonas Ridge, his sisters Robi Robinson Gladden of Statesville and Jennifer Robinson Williams of Lenoir, and by his Aunt Betty Holder of Lenoir. He is also survived by his niece Ashley Robinson McIntyre of Greensboro, nephew Jon Duncan Robinson of Lenoir, nieces Gracyn Harris and Gretchen Harris of Charlotte, Emma Robinson of Jonas Ridge, Sophia Williams and Sheridan Williams of Lenoir, and nephews Bergsvein Toverud and Shelton Toverud of Jonas Ridge. Jamie leaves behind a legacy of music and talent, internationally recognized and beloved in his hometown. His artistic ability was far reaching from music to painting and drawing. He was a true craftsman with a guitar and cultivated this gift in his family and among his many friends. Jamie will be remembered by those who knew him best, fronting rock and roll bands throughout the years, almost always accompanied by his brother Jody on drums. The family will receive visitors from 6 to 7 pm at Pendry’s Funeral Home followed by a memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of James Shew to celebrate his love of animals to NC Paws Rescue at 2359 US Hwy 70 SE #351, Hickory, NC 28602.
