Jean Carpenter

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Caldwell County to the late Earl B. Miller and Cora Lee Miller. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Miller. She was a homemaker and was employed at South Caldwell High School in the cafeteria. She was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband John D. Carpenter of the home; sons, Michael Carpenter and wife Debbie of Hudson, and Scott Carpenter of Granite Falls; daughters, Reba Andrews and husband Ralph of Hudson, and Janet Harris of Lenoir; brothers, Nolan Miller of Hudson, Thomas Miller of Hudson and Basil Miller of Wilmington; sisters, Margaret Evans of Blacksburg, SC, France Carpenter of Hudson and Mary Spicer of Lenoir; seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, July 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist church with the Reverend John Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The Carpenter family will receive friends Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Serving as pallbearers will be Todd Clough, Joshua McCall, Eric Carpenter, Cameron Carpenter, Jeremy Carpenter and Jason Carpenter. Honorary Pallbearer will be Charlie Harris.

The family respectfully requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
