Jerry D. Cook Sr.

Mr. Jerry Dean Cook Sr., 74, of Granite Falls, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2010 at his home.

Mr. Cook was born in Caldwell County on June 14, 1936 to the late Ira Coy Cook and Evelyn Horton Cook.

Mr. Cook was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lenoir. He was a graduate of Lenoir High School and retired from Bernhardt Industries. He served in the US Air Force.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife Mildred Ward Cook of the home, five sons; Jerry Cook, Jr. of Lenoir, William Cook of New York, James Cook of Lenoir, David Cook of California, Danny Cook of Hickory , one step son; Alan Ervin of Hickory, two daughters, Donna Cook of Nevada and Hope Cook of Lenoir, four brothers; Joe Cook of Lenoir, Johnny Cook of Collettsville, Carl Cook of High Point, Leonard Cook of Newland, one sister Caroline Cook of Hudson, eleven grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

The Cook family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 from 7 until 8:30 pm at Pendry’s Funeral Home and Crematory.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, 12:00 noon at Harris Chapel Baptist Church with Reverend Josh Benge and Reverend Lynn Parsons officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the US Air Force and The Caldwell County Honor Guard.

Serving as pallbearers will be Travis Cook, Ryan Cook, Trey Cook, Brandon Ervin, Dean Cook, Bryan Johnson and Tyler Coffey as honorary pallbearer.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be made to Caldwell County Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
