John Lawton Roberts

John Lawton Roberts, 81, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Roberts was born in Murphy, NC to the late Steve E. Roberts and Leila Caroline Newton Roberts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Roberts; a daughter, Cindy Whitlock; a grandson, Logan Hall, brothers Clyde and Fred Roberts and a sister Pauline Smith. He was a master mechanic and owner of Roberts VW Service and was a member of the House of Prayer Church.

Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, David Hall, Cleveland Hall, Damon Roberts and Roger Roberts; his daughters, Darlene Myers, Judy Blackburn and Geraldine Long; a brother, Jack Roberts and wife Dana; sisters, Lila Mae Harrison, Oleta Harrison, Geneva Bumgarner, Ruth Kincaid, Hattie Smith and husband David and Mary Bumgarner. He also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Roberts will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 in the Chapel of Pendry’s Funeral Home at 2:00 PM with Reverend Leonard Younce officiating. Burial will be at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
