He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Mary Harmon Laws and his brother Charles Laws.
Those left to cherish his memory include his three sons Richard Smith (Teresa) of Lenoir, John Smith (Faye) of Casar, David Smith (Tammy) of Lenoir; daughter Becky Richards of Lenoir; brother Larry Laws, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 9, 2025. A funeral service will follow in Pendry’s Chapel at 11:00 AM.
Burial will take place at Bolick Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Smith, Dawson Smith, Dalton Laws, Bobby Harrison, Crisp Lipscomb, and Abraham Betancourt.
