Mr. McGee was born in Caldwell County on April 30, 1941 to the late William Lee McGee and Maude White McGee. He was a member of Union Baptist church where he was involved in many activities, he sang in the choir, served as a Deacon and also helped cook the Senior Citizen Breakfast each month when he was able. Mr. McGee was employed as the Design Director for Bernhardt Furniture, then started his own furniture design business, LCM Design. Lawrence also loved spending time at his home on the lake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers; Clarence and Finley McGee, sisters, Edna Richards, Mae Smith and Shirley Holden.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Evangeline Woodie McGee of the home, daughter, Cynthia Roland and husband Joseph Neal, brothers, Fred and Ralph McGee and sister, Irene Suddreth, all of Lenoir, a grandson, Joseph Scott Roland and a great grandson, Bryson Isaiah. Also left to cherish him memory is his beloved Shih Tzu, Brandy.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Union Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Robinette officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Robert Richards, Bradley Woodie, lance Smith, Ricky McGee, Joey Roland and Bryson Roland.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm at the church.
