Mrs. Barnes was born February 14, 1963 in Watauga County, daughter of the late John Odell Presnell and Ruby Dean Presnell.
Leona was employed by Broyhill for many years. She had a passion for God's creatures, gardening, cooking and canning. She always helped others when she could.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Stanley Barnes of the home, a son: Eugene Barnes and fiance Holly of Lenoir, a daughter: Wendy Quintana and husband Ronnie of Boomer, two grandsons: Eli Quintana and Leo Quintana, both of Boomer, one sister: Michelle Hollars and husband Greg of Bethel.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
