Very saddened for this lost. Yvonne was my mother away from home. Being from Philadelphia., PA she welcomed me in her life and home with open arms. She fed and groomed me and my teammates with no problem (money was never an issue). My heart continues to hurt. As a NCCU Champion basketball player Yvonne told me that “She still love and still stuck out her chest when people talk about the Champioship Basketball team.” She will be highly missed.

My condolences to Yvonne's family on her passing. She was a staple here on the campus of NCCU. Most people knew Ms. Yvonne. A lot may not have known her name, but everybody knew her face. I remember the days that I would see her when I would walk from the parking lot (which was near the barbershop) she would always take time to chit chat and sometimes, she would walk along with me and just chat. She will me missed dearly. I can't remember a time of her not being in the barbershop (even when I was a student here). I pray the God would comfort you all during this time and that you will feel His peace.

Respectfully submitted,
Gilda Suiter

As a member of North Carolina Central University's Mens Basketball team in the 80's, Ms. Yvonne was our 2nd mom. She would cut your hair when you needed it, give you advice about school and life whether you needed it or not and any of the guys will
tell you, she made sure that you had something to eat. She invited us over and she always had a spread, laid out at her house. On behalf of my "brothers", we want to say, "We Love You and You are Missed".

I have very fond memories of Yvonne as my barber at North Carolina Central University, Durham NC during my college years 1969-1973. She was in my opinion the best barber in the shop. Yvonne was professional and kind. She was like our sister or dear friend. She brought laughter and sunshine into the lives of numerous NCCU students. Yvonne will be missed. My love, sympathy and prayers are extended to Yvonne's entire family. James Ellis Ratliff, Durham NC
