Mary “Ruth” Taylor Woods, 76, of Lenoir passed away Monday, September 29, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care.
Ruth was born August 14, 1938 to the late Walter Monroe and Annie Mae Carswell Taylor. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a brother Walter Monroe Taylor, Jr. and a niece Yolanda Taylor Miller. She was employed for eleven years with the Senior Center and was a member of Hartland Missionary Methodist Church.
Mary's sweet soul greeted most everyone that entered the Senior Center doors where she worked. Her undivided attention was given to everyone unconditionally. Mary's time was also selflessly devoted to taking care of her many friends in the community. To some, she was considered an angel on Earth. Mary's devoted life to her personal savior, Jesus Christ, was felt and seen by everyone that knew her.
Those left to cherish her memory are her cousin, George Taylor and wife Joy of Morganton; her second cousin Jason and wife Dawn Taylor and their children of Newton.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Pendry’s Chapel at 12:00 p.m. with Reverend David McNeil officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 11:00 a.m. at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
The family respectfully asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care at 902 Kirkwood Street Lenoir, NC 28645 or to The Caldwell County Humane Society at 934 Hawthorne Drive NE, Lenoir, NC 28645.
