Mattie Johnson Keyes

Mrs. Keyes was born in Caldwell County to the late Art Johnson and Ruth Belle Pipes Johnson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ward Keyes; five brothers and three sisters.

She was a retired secretary from Broyhill Furniture. She was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Lenoir where she was a served as a Sunday school teacher, in the church library and member of the senior choir.

Survivors include a daughter, Ruth Angley of Morganton; a sister, Verna Johnson Thompson of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Ronny and Robby Angley, both of Morganton.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at 3:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Mike Isaacs and Reverend Mark Denton officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Funeral Home on hour prior to the service.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mrs. Mattie Keyes to the Burke County Hospice, P O Box 1029, Valdese, NC 28690.
