Mrs. Snyder was born in Caldwell County to the late Clarence Allen Benfield and Neely Ann Bentley Benfield. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of almost 50 years, Joe Jack Snyder; brothers, Clarence, Eugene and NJ Benfield; sisters, Mable Cummins, Elizabeth Byerly and Evelyn Richards; a grandson, Robert Hightower.
She was retired from Snyder’s Rest Home with 30 years of service and was of the Baptist faith.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Florence Hightower and husband Joe of Lenoir; her sons, Allen Lee Snyder and Joe Jack Snyder, Jr. both of Lenoir; her brother, Richard “Terry” Benfield of Lenoir; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Coffey of Texas; two grandchildren; Joy Wellborn and Scott Snyder of Lenoir, five great grandchildren; Joseph and Ryan Hightower, Kurt, Tara and Nina Wellborn, and two great great grandchildren; Eden Flores and Skyler McCloud and also the entire Snyder family of which she has been a part of for 73 years.
A graveside service will be held Sunday, March 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens with Reverend Sam Snyder officiating. The family will receive friends at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The family requests that memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
