Peggy Coffey Carswell

Peggy was married to Alpha Lee (Dude) Carswell for 73 years prior to his death in 2022. Married at 18, she was the great love of his life. They enjoyed many friends and family through work and church. They traveled and enjoyed their life, complementing each other and working closely together.

She is survived by her daughter, Tyra Murphy and husband Grady of Cleveland, Tn., two grandchildren Jenna Murphy Middleton (Gavin), Jordan Murphy (Sarah) of Nashville, TN., three great-grandchildren, Haddie Middleton, Kylee Murphy and Merritt Middleton.

Peggy Carswell graduated from Lenoir High School. She worked at Bush Inc. until her retirement. She served as a beloved Sunday School teacher, and sang in the choir at South Lenoir Church of God. Peggy assisted Dude in the duties of church clerk at Heritage Pentecostal Church of Lenoir.

A chapel service at Pendry's Funeral Home Chapel will occur on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM and visitation will occur one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Officiating at the funeral service will be Rev. Joe Holden, Rev. Howard Smith, and Rev. Grady Murphy. Interment will occur at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir, N.C. following the funeral service.
