Ray Stephen Hammerick, age 78, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025 at Catawba Valley Medical Center. Ray was born November 29, 1946 in Hampden County, Massachusetts to the late John and Rosa Hammerick.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Walter Hammerick, a daughter, Cynthia June Arbo and a great grandchild, Jonathan Simmons.
Ray was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family was very important to him. Ray was a Godly Man, a member of New Life Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the United States Army, retiring after twenty one years of dedicated service to his country. Ray also was very involved in his community, he was involved with the Gamewell and Kings Creek Ruritan, American Legion Post 29 and he was a volunteer for AMOREM Hospice for 32 years.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 30 years, Laura Miller Hammerick of the home, two daughters, Cathy Queen of Lenoir, Christine McChesney (Robert) of Sterling Township, Ohio, a stepson, Shane Miller (Megan) of Lenoir, a sister, Jill Hammerick of Corpus Christie, Texas, grandchildren, Michele Jones (Brett) of Lenoir, Kristy Bettini (Chris) of Durham, Stacy Simmons (Dennis) of Lenoir, Shane Woodward (Karey) of Lenoir, Donna McChesney-Mcdonald (Amanda) of Ohio, BJ MCChesney of Ohio, Kaylee Fitzgerald of Leoir, Riley Miller of Lenoir and Delaney Miller of Lenoir.
Also surviving are ten great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 2:00 pm at New Life Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Kale officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:45 pm until 1:45 pm at New Life Baptist Church.
