

He was preceded in death by his parents William and Eva Dykes and several siblings.
Left to cherish Ray's memory are his wife Charlotte D. Dixon Dykes; his sons Ronald Davenport and Larry Dixon, Jr.; his daughters Ann Dixon Tenu (husband Michael Tenu) and Charlene Matos (husband Regino Matos); 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; his brother Kenneth Dykes (wife Charlene Dykes); his sister Doris Dykes (partner Terry Russell); and countless nieces and nephews.
Ray began preaching in West Virginia. After moving to Lenoir, he became an associate pastor at West End Mennonite Brethren Church then pastored at Laytown Mennonite Brethren Church for 10 years. He loved the Lord and he loved singing. Ray was a faithful and loving husband, father, and grandfather.
A Homegoing Service will be held 4:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at The Life Center, 1925 Valway Road, Lenoir, NC 28645, with Rev. Terry Hunt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM at The Life Center.
