Roy James Byrd Jr.

James was a 39 year young devoted loving father to two daughters, Kami Aliyah Byrd and Jasmine Rayne Byrd, a loving husband to the mother of his children Chastity Pruitt, he was a very proud awesome grandpa to two beautiful grandbabies Ky'Darius Micah Valentine McHenry and Khanyla Azlyn Rayne McHenry, and a wonderful brother to his sisters Danielle Byrd and Lily Ann Tumax.

He always put others before himself, cheering all of his family, especially his daughters. He always filled their lives with daily laughs, corny jokes and the love he showed. There was never ever a day he wasn't there for those he loved.

His work ethic was unmatched—he spent 18 years as a welder, doing what he knew best and he excelled at his work. He was a hard working man but more importantly James was always providing for his family with dedication.

James was extremely caring; he would give his last meal or his shirt off his back if needed. He loved spending time with his girls or his grandbabies, cruising the roads, and going fishing. He was always down for whatever. He loved hard and was such a great dad and the best grandpa. He loved everyone around him, even if they didn't care for him. James was deeply loved and will be deeply missed.

A memorial service will be held 3:30 PM on Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Poovey's Chapel Baptist Church, 2822 Pooveys Chapel Church Rd, Hudson, NC 28638.
