He was born in Wilkes Co. to the late Samuel Calvin Johnson, Sr and Juanita (Love) Johnson on November 8, 1943. He is predeceased by his parents Samuel Calvin Johnson, Sr. and Juanita (Love) Johnson Moose. In addition to his parents he is predeceased by a son Jeffrey Lynn Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was employed for thirty years by Kincaid Furniture of Lenoir, N.C. serving as both a quality supervisor and as an operations supervisor. He was fondly loved and respected by his fellow colleagues and those with whom he worked.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years Willadean (McCall) Johnson, a son Christopher Scott Johnson (Donna) and a daughter Cynthia Crotts (Chris), daughter-in-law Anita Johnson, Sister Brenda Gilbert (Carl), and brother Jerry Johnson. Surviving also are his beloved grandchildren Ethan Johnson, Mara Johnson, Masha Johnson, Jacob Crotts, Nicolas Crotts, and great grandchildren Rachel Crotts, and Harper Crotts.
Mr. Johnson was a member of West Lenoir Baptist Church of Lenoir, N.C. He loved his family including his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was rare he didn't attend one of his grandchildren's sporting events. He was passionate about camping and riding his Honda Magnum motorcycle with his wife on the back and Max the poodle between them. Mr. Johnson was an avid race car fan attending numerous races at Charlotte Motor Speedway during his life.
Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Johnson, Jacob Crotts, Nicolas Crotts, Chris Crotts, Carl Gilbert, and Warren Harbison.
A funeral service commemorating his life will be held immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 30th in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home. Officiating during the service will be Rev. Rick Safriet.
Interment will be held at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir, N.C. immediately following the funeral service.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, March 30th from 11:00 a.m. until 12:50 p.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
