Mrs. Shoemake was born in Watauga County to John Townsend and Dorothy Bristol Townsend of Collettsville. She was an employed with Fairfield Chair Company and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Hudson.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Dennis Ray Shoemake; her brothers, Jeff Townsend, Clarence Townsend and John Townsend, Jr.; her sisters, Angela Thompson and Teresa Vance.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, April 21, 2011 at 12:00 p.m. at Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Jim Hamby officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service.
