Sarah Ellen Combs

Sarah Ellen Burch Combs of Granite Falls, NC died peacefully on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Catawba County, Sarah was a lifelong resident of the Baton Community in Caldwell County. She was the beloved daughter of the late Violet Burch and Billy Joe Burch.

Sarah was preceded in death by her devoted husband of many years, Cecil Combs, who passed away in October 2005.

She was employed for many years at Broyhill Furniture and Valdese Weavers. She was also a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hudson, where she sang in the choir.

For the past 3 years Sarah resided at Grace Village Assisted Living in Granite Falls, NC surrounded by friends.

She is survived by her daughter, Carla Carpenter of Fuquay Varina, NC, and her cherished grandsons, Emmett Carpenter of Cary, NC, and Elliott Carpenter of Raleigh, NC.

Visitation will be held on Sunday October 19 at 1:45pm at Pendry’s Funeral Home in Lenoir. The funeral will be held afterwards at 3 pm.
