Left to cherish Shirley's memory are her sons Phillip Abernathy and Ahmad Abernathy, her two sisters Mary Ann Abernathy and Helen Byrd, her two brothers William Abernathy and Edward Jr. Abernathy, special niece Cazzamon Abernathy, special nephew Fred Abernathy, and numerous beloved extended family members.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home officiated by Rev. James Wilfong. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends for an hour prior to the service, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, 522 Wilkesboro Blvd., Lenoir, NC 28645.
