Shirley Davis Greene

Mrs. Greene was born in Caldwell County to the late S.C. “Lum” and Blanche Story Davis on February 24, 1934. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Wilburn Greene, a half- brother, Bascom Story and two sisters, Opal Greene and Jean Eller.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir.

Those left to cherish her memory include three sons, Jack Wilburn Greene, Jr. of Statesville, NC, David “Mike” Greene and wife Jan of Lenoir, NC, and Johnny Daryl Greene and wife Sandra, also of Lenoir, NC; one daughter, Cynthia Denise Greene of Lenoir, NC; one brother, Wayne Davis and wife Mickie of Lenoir, NC; four sisters, Mae Carroll and husband, Bob of Hilton Head, SC, Ruby Elder and husband Stan of Lenoir, NC, Carolyn Waters and husband Wayne of Dallas, TX, and Rebecca Vann and husband, Randy of Rocky Mount, NC; four grandchildren, Reverend Bryan Greene, Reverend Tim Greene, Jay Greene and Casey Barlow; nine great grandchildren, Jonathan, Seth, Leah, Caleb, Tabitha, Titus, Hannah, Abigail, Isaiah Greene.

Funeral services for Mrs. Greene will be held, Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Calvary Baptist Church at 12:00 pm with Reverend Alan Carr and Reverend Bryan Greene officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Wilson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm prior to the service at Calvary Baptist Church.

Serving as pallbearers will be Reverend Tim Greene, Jay Greene, Jonathan Barlow, John Vann, Chris Vann, and William Smith.
