

Hill was born February 25, 1933, in Caldwell County to Thomas Sylvester and Lexie Coffey Watson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mark Watson.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruby Gibson Watson; brothers E.N. Watson and wife Ginger; Floyd Watson and wife Linda; sisters Anne Watson Hoover and husband Ray; and Jane Watson Lindsay and husband Louie; his special family members Terry and Vicki Coffey, Michael Coffey, Suzanne Coffey and the joy of his life, his great-great nephew and niece Mason and Jessie Moore. He is further survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
Hill attended Gamewell Elementary School, Gamewell High School and Clevenger Business College. Hill worked at his family business, Watson Concrete Pipe, until his retirement. He was a member of the Army National Guard for 20 years when he retired with the rank of Master Sergeant. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church. Before his declining health, he was an avid golfer and member of Lenoir Golf Club. He loved to fish and travel.
Hill will be remembered by his family for his honesty and sincerity, his kind, quiet, loving manner, and his willingness to lend a hand to anyone who needed it. He’s been an inspiration to all who have known him. He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews that he’s taken fishing, picked up at school, helped with homework, and loved them like they were his own children.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 3 at 4:30 p.m. at Union Grove Baptist Church with the Reverend Sam Craven officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with the Reverend Randy Gibson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers.
