Vernon Roger Harrison Sr.

August 8, 1936 – September 27, 2018

Vernon Roger Harrison, 82, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2018 in Stanley, NC.

Mr. Harrison was born in Caldwell County on August 8, 1936 to the late Hill Harrison and Fannie Bradshaw Harrison.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Harrison, brother, Bascom Harrison, sisters, Evelyn Queen, Lona Dellinger, Wayburn Ramsey, Willis Alley, and Pearl Bryant.

Vernon was a proud Veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Harrison was employed by the City of Charlotte for many years as an animal control officer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and in his later years, he began building birdhouses and birdfeeders.

Those left to cherish his memory include four sons Roger Harrison and wife Melisa of Stanley, Robert Harrison and wife Renee of Sawmills, Tommy Harrison of Lenoir and Gary Harrison of Morganton, a sister, Ruby Pearson, nine grandchildren; Dawn Harrison, Thomas Harrison, Scotty Harrison, Justin Harrison, Mariah McDaniel, Tyler Harrison, Wendy Smith, Kristy Setzer and Natasha Waddell. Also left to cherish his memory are18 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Ward officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.

Military Honors will be provided by the United States Nation Guard and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
