Virginia loved Big Band music and liked to tell about going to Pete Fountain’s Club in New Orleans and hearing him play and went to many other concerts, and loved watching The Lawrence Welk Show regularly as well as The Johnny Carson Show. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and children, traveling to Atlanta with Bill and Ginny, three trips to Hawaii with her son Bill, who also took them to San Francisco and Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Palm Springs and a drive along the California Coast. She loved spending summers in Blowing Rock and shared many happy memories of that beautiful mountain town. She loved playing golf and watched golf in her later years. She loved to be with and reminisce about family and her many special friends. Virginia loved her church and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lenoir and faithfully attended until her health no longer allowed her to and then watched the church services on TV.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Virginia “Ginny” Broyhill Cobb of Hickory, and Linda Broyhill Hogan of Bradenton, FL; her son, William Thomas “Bill” Broyhill of Charlotte; her sister, Margaret H. Baucom of Hickory; grandchildren, Laura V. Hudson Welch, Bradley G. Hudson, Elizabeth Broyhill Cobb, Stephen P. Hogan, Linda Susan Hogan Mueller and Timothy M.
