Wallace Jay Davis "Davey" , age 77, of Lenoir, North Carolina passed unexpectedly but peacefully on Friday, February 7, 2025 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital, joining his family and friends who passed before him. Davey was born on October 25, 1947 in Caldwell County to the late Wallace Davis and Helen Setzer Davis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Safford.
Davey was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during Vietnam and was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.He graduated in 1966 from Gamewell High School,and after his military service, he earned a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from Lenoir Rhyne College.
Davey enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling, a good meal and time spent with his family. He dearly loved his dog, Bailey who met him at Heavens gate. Davey attended Waterlife Church and enjoyed sermons by Pastor Todd Braswell.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 39 years, Renee Moore Davis, of the home, who cared for him during his declining health, his children, Chris Davis and wife Amy of Charleston, SC, Felicia Crouch and husband Jeff of Lenoir, Josh Shew and wife Kelly of Newton, a sister, Libby Walker of Lenoir, a brother, Bobby Davis of Lenoir, his grandchildren, Lana-Faith Shew, Kyndel Crouch, Kenzley Shew, Jaylee Shew, Ella Crouch, Austin Davis and wife Taressa, Colby Davis and Brock Davis. Also surviving are numerous other family and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 at 2:00 pm at Waterlife Church with Rev. Todd Braswell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Littlejohn United Methodist Church in Lenoir. Military honors will be provided by the North Carolina National Guard. Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Greer, John Edwards, Johnny Hall, Jeff Warren, Clarence Hart and Danny Coffey.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, from 12:45 pm pm until 1:45 pm at Waterlife Church.
