

Walter "Kenny" McKinley Davis III passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 8, 2025 at College Pines Health and Rehabilitation, Rutherford College, N.C. He is predeceased by his father the late Walter (Junie) McKinley Davis, Jr., and his mother the late Shirley Lorraine Kincaid Davis.
Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved wife of 26 years Vanessa Lane (Berry) Davis, his daughter April Coffey (Shannon), and his son Travis Hamby (Jennifer) as well as grandchildren Dylan Coffey, Emma Coffey, Ellie Hamby, Jackson Mercer, and Jillian Mercer. Mr. Davis is also survived by his sisters Vicki Safford, Donna Wilson (John), Marsha Pendry (Bill) brother Bill Davis (Kathy), an uncle Jeff Davis as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Davis was fond of and loved children especially seeing them succeed in life in their endeavors. His personality lended itself to never having met a stranger and all who met him loved him. Moreover, Kenny was inducted into the West Caldwell High School Sports Hall of Fame for serving as the "Dynamic Voice" announcer for both the basketball and the football team. He was very active in the sports program at West Caldwell High School serving in various important capacities over the years. Still yet, Mr. Davis was an aquatic specialist and head lifeguard at the Lenoir Aquatic Center. Furthermore, Kenny also served as the manager of the Lenoir Oilers and the Chief's baseball team.
Pallbearers include Jackson Mercer, John Wilson, Brooks Davis Wilson, Jaxson William Poteet, Wayne Woodruff, and Mark Steele. Parker Mast and Gordon Thompson will be serving as an honorary pallbearer
Visitation for family and friends will occur on Sunday, January 12, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2025 at 3:00 o'clock p.m. in the chapel of Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home, Lenoir, N.C.
Interment will occur at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Lenoir, N.C. immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to AMOREM Hospice, American Cancer Society, or the Lenoir Little League Society.
