Mr. William “Bill” Fate Adkins, 88, of Lenoir passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at his residence. Mr. Adkins was born February 7, 1934 in Wilkes County to the late James Walker and Nellie Hamby Adkins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Lynn Adkins Carbonel, a grandson Bryan Carbonel, brother, Clayton Adkins and four sisters, Margaret Powell, Betty Carlton, Ann Butler and Helen Smith.
Bill enjoyed camping and fishing, and loved to go to yard Sales. He liked to travel, a couple of his favorite trips included a trip out West in 1992 and also an Alaskan Cruise in 2005. He retired from Singer Furniture after working many years as a Supervisor.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lucille Byerly Adkins of the home, a grandson Craig Carbonel and wife Rena of Greenville, SC and great-grandsons, Tyler and Nathan Carbonel. both of Greenville, SC.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at 1:00 pm in the chapel of Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home with Rev. Billy Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 8, 2022 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Pendry’s Lenoir Funeral Home.
