William Thomas

Mr. Thomas was born in Lenoir to the late William Thomas and Polly Gilmer Johnson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ollie Harshaw Thomas; a son, Terrance Thomas; sisters Joann Gilmer, Betty Wakefield, Mary Moore Honer, Geneva Moore Tilley; brothers, William Thomas, Robert Moore and Frank Moore.

Survivors include his sons, Chris Thomas and D. L. Harshaw; his daughters, Paula Thomas, Tswana Thomas, Callie Harshaw Butler and Joy Bridges; his sisters, Foster Bessie Moore Dula and Burnette Moore Burgess; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A funeral service will be held Friday, June 01, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Pendry’s Chapel with Reverend Wilfong and Reverend Norwood officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 until 1:00 at Pendry’s Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Steve Jones, Pete Bridges, Jimmy Harshaw, James Gilmer and Julius Wakefield. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Harshaw and Ira “Sonny” Harshaw.
