

Funeral services for Anneva Ruth Shaw, 88, of Houston, Texas and formerly of Levelland will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, September 21, 2012 in the George Price Funeral Home Chapel, Levelland, with Rev. Paton Parrish, Minister of Music, First Baptist Church, Levelland, officiating. Burial will be in the City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. She died Monday, September 17, 2012 in Houston.
Mrs. Shaw was born on July 12, 1924 in Strawn, Palo Pinto County, Texas to Ray Charles and Eva Laura (Echols) Kelley. She attended grade school in Caddo, Stephens County, Texas and graduated from Teachers College High School in Denton, Texas in 1941. She went on to earn her B. S. degree from North Texas State Teachers College, now known as University of North Texas. Anneva taught for the Odessa schools for 37 years. She taught at North Elementary, San Jacinto Elementary and Dowling Elementary.
She married Howard Carl Shaw on April 11, 1981. They had homes in Odessa, Albuquerque and Ruidoso New Mexico and moved to Levelland in December of 1981. Anneva was a member of the Levelland Chamber of Commerce, Friends of the Library, Cochran-Hockley Association of Retired Teachers. She was also a member of the Llano Estacado Study Club and served in every office of the club. While in Levelland, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Levelland and was active with the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Sonshine Choir. Anneva was a member of the Nancy Anderson Chapter, National Society, Daughters of the American Revolution, Lubbock, Texas.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Charles Ray Kelley, Sr., Anneva is survived by her sister in law, Barbara Kelley of Houston, four nieces: Barbara O’Connell of Houston, Cecilia Zuspan of Green Valley, Arizona; Mary Wehr of Longmont, Colorado; Margaret White of Dallas, Texas; one nephew: Charles Kelley, Jr. of Houston and her cousins: Bill Echols, Joe Echols Rich, Tomagene Snead, Helen Price, Nolan Kelley and many great nieces, great nephews a dear friend and neighbor, Sicily Lattimore and many more friends.
