

Funeral services for Bobby Edward Brown of Levelland will be at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, July 13, 2011 in George Price Funeral Chapel with Rev. Roy Prather, pastor, Fifth St. Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland. He died Monday, July 11, 2011 in Levelland.
Born on November 12, 1931 in Anson, Texas to Troy Robert and Mary G. (Shira) Brown, he graduated from Levelland High School in 1950 and married LaVerne Basye on January 24, 1951. Brown began working for Southwestern Public Service Co. in February 1952. He was drafted into the U. S. Army in October 1953. Following his discharge in November 1955, he returned to work for SPS in Lubbock and retired in November 1993. Bob was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church, Levelland.
He was active in activities such as Little League Baseball and Boy Scouts with his son. He was a Mason, served as a lay leader in the Methodist church at one time, and was a devoted husband and father, who loved being with his family. Many trips were taken with his children and grandchildren through the years, beginning with a tent, a fold-out camper, and finally motor homes. He began carving items while camping and that became his favorite hobby. Bob liked building Church birdhouses, crosses and carving Santa's.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, T. R. Brown of Odessa, and Mack Brown who was killed in WW II and two sisters, Irene Brown and Dorothy Brown Sales.
Survivors include his wife: LaVerne; a son: Jeffrey Dirk Brown and his wife, Teresa of Ponder, Texas; a daughter: Jennifer Dee Brown Rucker of Katy, Texas; and five grandchildren: Ryan and Reed Rucker and Lori, Levi, and Leanna Brown.
