Graveside services for Calvin Dale Cox, age 88, will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the City of Levelland Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 15, from 5-7 p.m. at George Price Funeral Home, in Levelland.

Mr. Cox passed away peacefully, on March 12, 2018, at Lynwood Nursing Home in Levelland. He was born on April 14, 1929, in Levelland, to Tolbert and Jessie Cox. He was the seventh child of nine for the Cox family and his parents, as well as all of his siblings preceded him in death. He graduated from Burnet High School in 1947. He met and married Joyce Forehand in Levelland in 1950 and they were married on his leave from the Army at Austin Street Church of Christ on July 3, 1951. They celebrated 63 years of marriage before Joyce preceded him in death on June 27, 2014.

They made their first home in Colorado Springs, CO, where Dale was stationed in the Army. They were eventually blessed with three children. Dale and Joyce made several moves over the years, to Levelland, Bovina, Coyanosa, Sterling City, Kingsland, and then finally back to Levelland, to spend their last years. Dale was a farmer for most of those years, sometimes a cowboy, mostly a fisherman, usually a storyteller, and often an opponent for anyone who wanted to argue. He spent his last years before retirement working in the oil field. He was a beloved Father and Grandfather and spent most of his time teaching his kids and grandkids about hunting, fishing, and camping.

Dale is survived by his son Wilton and wife Karen, daughter Carolyn and husband, Steve Boles, and his son Stan and wife Susan. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Trenton Cox, Brandon Cox (Katie VanWyngeeren), Devon and Christy Cox, Barry and Heather Boles, Marshall and Kellyann Boles, Ashley Boles (Ed Agnew), Triston and Andrew Frost, and Taylor and Tim Guerin, and Sarah and Nick Lewis. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren, Zayden, Lyric, Story, Cadence, and Coda Cox; Gus, Charlie, Bennett and Caleb Boles; Rebecca Lewis, and Harper and Asher Frost.

The Family of Mr. Cox would like to thank the staff of Lynwood Nursing Home in Levelland for their care and friendship for the past 4 years. He considered the entire staff personal friends and appreciated their kindness and care.

I can remember sitting and listening to Dale tell his stories and when he was through he started to tell it again and never miss a beat in

It feels like only a moment ago we all did everything together. I always thought we got to see the entire world when we would travel all the way to Joyce & Dale's house! So many fun and exciting experiences! Uncle Dale was so funny and as Daddy's older brother they seemed to be in much competition together! It is with sadness that we will say goodbye to their generation this week. It's the sweetest thing to know they're all together and rejoicing! They all lived a wonderful and loving life and it is an honor to have lived among all of them. With love to Wilton, Carolyn & Stan and all of your families, God bless you all!!!
