

Funeral services for Dena Rankin, 102, of Levelland and formerly of Dumont will be 10:00 am, Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Fifth Street Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev. Roy Prather, pastor, officiating. Graveside services will follow at 3:30 pm in Garden of Memories Cemetery, Paducah, Texas.
The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. She died on Wednesday, November 29, 2012 in Lubbock. She was born on April 14, 1910 in Sulphur Bluff, Texas to Meredith and Meta Mae (Stepp) Ham. Mrs. Rankin worked in the school cafeteria at Dumont for several years. She babysat for local mothers, and became known in her neighborhood as the "Cookie Lady". Mrs. Rankin moved to Levelland in 1972. She was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church, Levelland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Rankin, two sons: Bobby Rankin and Dale Rankin, a daughter: Sharon Davidson; a grandson: David Jackson; two great grandsons: Rocky Gill and Zachary Wayne Rankin; and a great great granddaughter: Zoe Espinoza; and five brothers: Joe Ham, Fred Ham, Hubert Ham, Chester Ham and Woodrow Ham.
Survivors include a son: Gerald Rankin of Lubbock; two daughters: Janice Jackson of Levelland and Patsy Miller of Wolfforth; a sister: Norma Turner of Levelland; twenty one grandchildren; sixty five great grandchildren and sixty five great great grandchildren.
