Doug Ratcliff

Funeral services for Doug Ratcliff, 86, of Levelland will be 10:00 am, Friday, April 5, 2013, at Fifth Street Baptist Church, Levelland with Rev., Roy Prather, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home, Levelland . He died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 in Levelland.

Born on March 6, 1927 in Brownfield, Texas to Gus and Mamie ( Elliott) Ratcliff, he grew up in Quemado, Texas. He left school and joined the U. S. Marine Corps at the age of 17 and served during World War II.

He married Dorothy Wernecke on November 1, 1948 and she preceded him in death on July 25, 2003. Doug worked for many years as a route salesman for a candy company and after he retired, he worked as a carpenter. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Levelland, Texas.

Survivors include two daughters: Kay Armes Bartley and her husband Ray and Karen Ratcliff, all of Levelland, Texas; a son: Bill Ratcliff and his wife, Michelle of Lubbock, Texas, six grandchildren: Brady Armes, Dusty Armes, Marshall Armes, Stephen Ratcliff, Kali Ratcliff and Anjali Ratcliff and four great grandchildren: Bo Armes, Kassidy Armes, Hailey Casias, and Cody Armes.
