Evelyn Gay Lewis Hartis

Burial will be in City of Levelland Cemetery under direction of George Price Funeral Home.

She died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Levelland.

She was born on October 8, 1927 in Pettit, Texas to Winslow Ray and Nellie Leavelle Lewis. A graduate of Pettit High School, she married J. R. Hartis on August 23, 1946 in Pettit, Texas. They lived in Levelland and then moved about, living in Hobbs, NM, Grants, NM, Pecos, TX and Monahans, TX before returning to Levelland in 1980. She was a member of Austin Street Church of Christ, Levelland.

Survivors include her husband: J. R. Hartis of Levelland, Texas; two sons: Tommy Gene Hartis of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Lewis Dale Hartis of Herriman, Utah, a daughter: Sherri Lynn Hudson of Levelland, Texas; her siblings: Gina Parkman and Harold Lewis, both of Levelland, Texas; Allene Thacker of Joshua, Texas; Nelda Shaw of Cleburne, Texas; Grafton Lewis of Florence, Texas; and Marilyn Marshall of Henrietta, Texas; nine grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
