He attended school in Whitharral and joined the United States Air Force in January 1951 and was discharged in November of 1953. In 1956 Glen married Carole Klafka Avery in Levelland, Texas and moved to Causey, New Mexico to help with the family ranch. Glen later went to barber college in Lubbock, Texas carrying on the family tradition as his father and two brothers and sister did before him. The family moved to Ft. Worth, Texas where Glen barbered for many years and developed a good clientele. He left barbering to work for General Dynamics in Fort Worth, where he was awarded twice for ideas submitted to improve operations. The family moved to Electra, Texas in 1970 and in 2012 Glen moved to Odessa, Texas.
Glen never knew a stranger and could “talk to a fence post”. He never remembered names and everyone was simply referred to as “old outfit”. He enjoyed many weekends with his sister Opal fishing, hunting and camping. Glen was an avid varmint hunter and was instrumental in the advancement of the sport with inventions such as the red headlight and mini gun light to name a few. His creative mind led to other inventions that are still in use today.
